How to survive a long drive in the heat

Embarking on a long drive in the summer heat? Here's a tried and proven method to stay cool.

Gather up plenty of bottled water, best if its flavored and not sugared. Next prepare some frozen green grapes. Wash fresh grapes. Remove from the vine. And freeze individually. Pack those in your cooler. Not only will they help keep your other items cool they'll cool you off as they are consumed.

If you've never tried frozen grapes before the reason to go with green is because they stay kind of slushy even when fully frozen whereas red 🍇 will become solid ice.

Leave pictures of your frozen grapes below.

Will your Kids be Prepared for the World of Money?

When it comes to money we all want to leave some for our children. We hope they will be in a better financial place than ourselves and try to provide a better childhood for them than we had.

These feelings and wants are natural. But what do we do to accomplish it? How do we get them to think these things? How do we guide them to learn about hard work, saving, investing, giving, and diverse social and economic circumstances that people find themselves in?

In his book "The Opposite of Spoiled: Raising Kids Who Are Grounded, Generous, and Smart About Money" Ron Lieber goes on to explain these things and more.

One particularly interesting part of the book was about a "Home Visit Curriculum" where 4 and 5 year olds go to visit the homes of every student in their class. It's interesting to see what the children pick up from these things.

I don't think I was to more than one or two classmates homes at that age. How many classmates homes did you visit when you were 4 or 5?

Who's the Richest Man in Your Town?

Years ago I sat for breakfast in a neat little bagel joint in New York and the young man sitting across me was telling how he decided he would become a doctor👨‍⚕️. The best doctor. Because he wanted to know how the body works and he would give back to the community that gave to him.

We enjoyed our toasted bagels and fine coffee ☕ surrounded by the beautiful decor of Bunch-o-Bagels. While we dined Menachem asked me if I had read the Richest Man in Babylon. No, I hadn't. I was intrigued, what could the richest man of any town teach me.

We bade farewell. He went off to medical school ⚕️🏫, and I, to the Brooklyn Public Library to see what The Richest Man in Babylon had to tell.

He spoke of camel 🐫 traders, brick-layers, money lenders💱, and of heavy, bulging purses💰, gangling with the sound of golden coins. But more importantly he spoke of the 5 rules of gold. How to obtain it, how to keep it, how to make it grow and how to make sure you don't squander it.

He spoke of the seven cures for a lean purse:
  1. Start thy purse to fattening. ...
  2. Control thy expenditures. ...
  3. Make thy gold multiply. ...
  4. Guard thy treasures from loss. ...
  5. Make of thy dwelling a profitable investment. ...
  6. Ensure a future income. ...
  7. Increase thy ability to earn.

Want to start fattening your own purse? Find for yourself a local mentor knowledgeable in the ways of collecting and multiplying gold. Or at least learn from the richest man in ancient Babylon.
A quick and easy read, or an even more delightful narrated version is available here:
